A little while ago I posted on my Facebook page about how excited I was about this idea that Lukas and I came up with (on our own!) and then actually executed. I was already excited to do the project, but I was beside myself when I looked in the Pottery Barn Kids catalog and saw a version of our project that we could buy.
SO:
1. We had and did an idea that we later saw featured in Pottery Barn Kids (my favorite!)
and
2. It cost less than what we would have paid for it.
WIN!
Now, PBK's is much more pretty mind you. But hey, we're focusing on the positives. It was very satisfying to see their version of it and say, "Hey! I did that too!"
What is this great idea you ask?
It's simple really, a hanging chart paper roll to color on. It hangs on our wall and we color on it. Constantly. All we needed was a simple chain, "S" hooks, two screws with eye holes to attach the hooks to, a roll of chart paper, and 2 clothes pins to keep it from unwanted rolling.
Let me just take a moment to say that taking a picture of a white roll of paper on a white wall, in a not so well lit room proved to be a challenge. But I feel that you can get the gist of it.
We measured the length that we wanted the chain to be, inserted the screws, fed the chain through the roll, attached S hooks to the eye holes, and colored. When the time comes to replace our roll, we'll unhook it and start again.
On it, we like to identify letters, draw family members, include seasonally appropriate sketches, and so much more. Only one line has gone onto the wall on the side of the paper (easily removed with our glossy paint). It was also a fun way to incorporate original kid art into our decor. C loves to point to it exclaiming, "Look what I made!"
I posted a picture of the PBK version below and the link is here. It is really pretty and it is a part of the Schoolhouse Utility System.
Creativity is ALWAYS a WIN!! Great job guys!!
