We celebrate the change. It means he's growing, and growing right along with him is his room.
We put SO much time and love into C's room. Every detail was honestly picked out just for him. Every book was a gift special for him at his baby shower. The dresser started it all. The crib and chair were (my) dreams come true. We painted his pictures ourselves and put up photos of brand new him. Suffice it to say, this room was made with love. It was the perfect start to his life.
The books are there, in fact there are MANY more of them now! They have been read. And read. And read. You get the point. The chair and crib have been given to another certain sweet boy. That hand painted name (all 7 letters) isn't going anywhere! The dresser has become a house for a lamp and some toys. No more diapers.
What has happened is that just like that, this nursery has morphed into a big boy room. I am good with that. In fact, one of the main reasons that we decorated it the way that we did was so that it's transition would be smooth from nursery to big boy room. But not without the help of one very special feature:
A big boy bed. I so love this bed. It's a twin size, so Cameron can continue to grow and it can stay a constant. When he comes home from summer camp and says, "I can't wait to sleep in my own bed," this will be that bed. This bed gets to house his dreams, hold us for bedtime stories, and help him rest when he's too sick for school.
Now to find something for that wall...
Great post!! Is he as excited as you are?
ReplyDeleteWell, not exactly yet. His reaction was somewhat anticlimatic... Haha.
ReplyDeleteMust be a "real" guy!! He doesn't care about the bed as long as he has a place to lay his head when he's through slaying dragons for the day!
ReplyDeleteYay for Cameron and his "big boy bed!" Have a great day! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! You have a great day too!
