So I am getting used to creating mood boards. I'm still learning, but I'm getting close. I am also still learning every day how to be a mommy. I feel that the 3 years of on the job training in the baby department now allows me to at least have an opinion on the matter. Am I an expert? No. Do I have all the answers? Nope.
But there are some items that I can say have made my heart sing as a mommy in the recent years. I thought I'd start with 8. (286-293)
1. Kendall Crib from Pottery Barn Kids. After months of research I found it. It had everything I wanted: Clean lines, white, not taller in the back, on sale, given as a gift, sturdy, safe, fixed gate. Hefty Perfection.
2. Coincidentally also from Pottery Barn Kids. The glider. I dreamed of this beauty rocking my babies and I to sleep for years before having them. We saved up for this for a long time before buying it back in 2010. It was our splurge for both the nursery and the baby. We were super blessed with baby gifts, so we felt able to get something as special as this chair ourselves. I haven't regretted it once. My favorite feature of the white chair is that the slip covers can and do come off for some washing.
3. I promise I don't spend my entire life at Pottery Barn Kids (I wish!!). This Camp dresser was the first item in our nursery. It was a hand me down gift in GREAT condition from some of our favorites. Navy Blue is my favorite color. We designed the room around this piece. We also have sweet little baskets that fit underneath it. It is pretty and useful. You can read about when we first met here.
4. Boppy Pillow. Ours is from Target. I personally could not have lived as a nursing mama without this pillow. I happen to have a very long torso (apparently) along with two large babies. This held them in the perfect spot all hours of the night. It was at the hospital for both of them to rest on. It supported both of them while they learned to sit up. It has been a great tool for our home.
5. The Baby Einstein Activity Saucer. This one is a newer model of ours, but it has all of the same activities minus the tall thing. It's colorful, safe, and a lot of fun. It has helped my children be contained and entertained while I cook dinner or do outdoor activities. It gave me peace of mind to focus on those necessary tasks knowing that they were safe, having a good time, and next to me. It's height is adjustable and the seat can be detached and washed in the washing machine.
6. The Baby Trend Expedition Double Jogger. AKA The Bus. It's huge, but we have only ever been unable to fit it through one door this year. It is a really smooth push and it feels very sturdy. You can lock or swivel the front wheel. Both seats are able to lay down individually.
Likewise (for another day) we also have a Bob Fixed Wheel single jogger that was a wonderful gift. We have used that thing hard core. But again, another day, another mood board.
7. Medela breast pump. I was able to stay home with C and work part time with T so a single use pump did the trick for me. Having said that, this little pump was so nice to have for Cameron when I needed a night out, or when Dad wanted to feed him. Then for Tate it did the trick for when I needed to go back to work part time. I tried 2 other kinds of pumps and the Medela was definitely my favorite.
8. The Safety First Car seat. We had the Safety First "Air" car seat and infant carrier. We were really happy with both. They were safe and sturdy but they also look comfy. Luckily, we haven't had to do safety "testing".
These are just my opinion. I promise I don't work for Pottery Barn, haha. Does anyone else out there with babies in their lives have a specific thing that they just can't (or if it's in the past, couldn't) get enough of? Is there a new gadget out there already for new babies that someday moms can't get enough of? Let me know... I already have a couple more in mind for next time!
